Gathering of Memories - PCG Archive Committee in the Dining Room
The archive committee is working to gather favorite memories from members and festival attendees where we peruse the digitized festival program books and have people bring any photos, videos or other mementos they might want to share. This will help us streamline what memories to focus on to extract from the archives, ensuring it is digitized and released so we can feature them during the 50th anniversary. Examples include The Egan family in the late 70s, Delores Keane in 1980s at Fischer’s Pool, Frankie and Mairead, Paul Brady… Join us in remembering our favorite festival memories!
Beginner’s Guide to the Irish Music Session with Hollis Payer in the Red Room
If you've been learning tunes, and are wondering how to join in an Irish music session to play with others, this is for you. We’ll talk and share about sessions and tunes, play a few of the more common jigs, reels and other melodies you might encounter, and have a bit of the craic! “Craic” being the most important element of a successful session: a good time.
True Irish Haunted Houses: Ghost Stories told by Marita Krivda Poxon in the Library
Marita K. Poxon will read six short Ghostly Tales taken from original accounts of Irish Ghosts. Her original stories will be just in time for Halloween and the Celtic Samhain. Samhain is the spooky day when the dark half of the year begins and barriers between the physical world and the spiritual world break down.
The stories all take place in Haunted Houses in Dublin. Unearthly apparitions will appear and chill the listener to the bone. Listen to tales of long dead spirits who appear and disappear inside a doorway or from inside a frigid cold bedroom. Be witness to the ghosts’ superhuman presences that instill terror. Hear how quasi-human apparitions strike fear even terror in the hearts of the unfortunate souls who are resident in these haunted domiciles. Come if you dare!
