Help need to move desk into PCG office

Looking to improve your good karma?
 
We are looking for 2 able bodied people to help transfer a small desk from a mini van into the PCG office located on the second floor of the Irish Center. So if you are available to help tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6:30 pm or Thursday at 6:00 pm, please respond to this email.

A Wish List from the Ceili Group

Hi Folks - We at the Philadelphia Ceili Group are in need of a few things to make our office at the Irish Center functional. If you can help us out with any of these items, you will be blessed with good luck for all time. (kinda) Seriously, we are looking for: 1. Someone who has the skills to replace a phone jack in our office. 2. A large metal storage cabinet that has the ability to be locked. 3. A desk that measures less then 6 feet across and has at least 2 drawers. Please respond to mcniffa@gmail.com if you can help us out with any of these items.

Come to a Very Important 2009 Irish Traditional Music and Dance Festival Meeting
 

Sunday, March 8, 2009 2:00 – 4:00 pm Irish Center

At this meeting we will decide:

- What the Festival will look like in 2009

- What types of performances will take place

- A list of possible performers will be determined

- Chairman and interested volunteers will determined.


This will be an interactive meeting where decisions will be made – not just discussed! This meeting is open to all Philadelphia Ceili Group Members (and if you’re not a member and would like to participate, come to the meeting and we’ll sign you up!)

A very special holiday event not to miss.

Marking its fourth consecutive year of holiday performances Irish Christmas in America will grace the stage of the Irish Center of Philadelphia on Tuesday December 9 at 8.pm for a heartwarming and entertaining presentation of seasonal cultural traditions from the Emerald Isle. Produced by Oisín Mac Diarmada of the award-winning traditional group Téada, the cast also includes one of Ireland's leading female vocalists, Karen Casey formally of the Irish "super group" Solas and Téada's Sean McElwain and Tristan Rosenstock on guitar and bodhran respectively. Acclaimed harpist Gráinne Hambly and uilleann piper Tommy Martin, along with dancers Abbey Magill and Sienna Hickey, round out the ensemble, which also features evocative images and engaging narrative. Mingling ancient traditions with the contemporary artistry of some of Ireland's finest performers, the enchanting show brings the spirit of Christmas on a distinctively Irish journey throughout America Tickets are $25, $23 for Ceili members. Nov 16th Special Event honoring one of the Ceili Group's own

On Sunday, November 16th The Delaware Valley Irish Hall of Fame will hold its 8th Annual Awards Ceremony One of the inductees will be Ann McFadden Donofry who passed away in September of 2007. Ann was the backbone of the many Irish Center organizations. She knew how to do everything and tirelessly shared her talents with all who asked. She was a founding member of the Philadelphia Ceili Group and a valued member of the Commodore Barry Club, the Donegal Society, and a member of the Delaware Valley Irish Hall of Fame. She left us too early but her heart still beats in our Community. McNamee - Priest, Pastor, Author and Friend to the Poor. Father McNamee has performed miracles in educating the young at St. Malachy's, an inner city school. He does so because of his many admirers who support his dedication. His love of Donegal is evidence in his recent Book of Poetry, Donegal Suite. It is a culmination of two summers spent in the Gaeltacht area of Ireland. His friend, Fr. Michael Doyle, from Camden, calls John McNamee a "Bright-Eyed Dreamer." Bill Brennan - Irish Historian and Genealogist, Keeper of the Irish Center Library. Billy was partly responsible for the building and stocking of the Commodore Barry Library and knows each and every volume. Many an amateur Genealogist comes seeking knowledge about his/her roots and Bill Brennan is there to give them a treasured look into their ancestry. A gentle man, he is loved by all.

The Ceili Group Office has a need for a cabinet that has a lock or can be locked. Preferable taller than it is wider and with some shelves. As many of you are aware, we have had technical difficulties with our membership database. We are aware that some of our members renewed their membership this year and did not receive their new membership cards.
