Put on your dancing shoes for the PCG's monthly "4th Friday Ceili", June 25th, starts at 8:00pm, at the Irish FCenter.

Meet friends old and new while enjoying set and ceili dancing to music provided by John Shields.

Derek Warfield on Thursday; "A Gas Pump Ceili" Benefit on Friday

At the Plough and the Stars, a great Irish Pub in old city Philadelphia on 2nd Street, Derek Warfield and the Young WolfTonesat the Plough on Thursday, June 17 at 8pm. Raymond Coleman from Tyrone will be singing and playing from 6pm. Derek there in March and gave a 3 hour concert which was fantastic. They sing all the great WolfTones anthems like 'The Streets of New York', 'Celtic Symphony' and of course beautiful ballads like 'Grace'. Tickets are $20 at the door.

“A Gas Pump Ceili” To benefit the town of Kingston Springs, Tennessee

On May 2nd, during the torrential storms and resulting floods that hit Nashville and the surrounding towns,  over 50 Philadelphia area travelers were stranded for  several hours in the town of Kingston Springs, Tennessee.  The folks in this little town offered us food, water and even lodgings.  They have lost many homes, businesses and even schools as a result of the floods.  The Travelers ended up having a ceilidh in the parking lot of the gas station where we were stranded, which eventually made its way to YouTube.  Money is being raised to donate back to them  to thank them for their  gracious   hospitality to our fellow Philadelphians.  Come to the June Rambling House with live music by the Gas Pump Ceili Band, dancing, refreshments, trivia and great raffle prizes.  All are welcome, tell your friends!  For information:

Great Irish Music and Dancing happening this week around Philadelphia

PCG Irish Music Sessions at the Irish Center

Irish Traditional Music Sessions

This Friday, June 4th from 8:00 -9:00 there is a slow session. This is a traditional Irish session in all ways except one: the tempo. You will play common session tunes at a slower than normal pace, so that beginning and intermediate players can more easily learn the tunes and join in the session. Also great for experienced players who are picking up another instrument!  A regular session sponsored by the Irish Center will run after that from 9:00 - On. A Singer's Session tonight, June 2, at the Irish Center

Officially the singers sessions at the Irish Center are on break during the summer but because some calendars had already put this June date on the schedule and because Terry is still in town some people had hoped to have an impromtu gathering tonight 7:30 - 10:00 at the Irish Center.

Two important announcements for Irish Singer's (or those who wanna be!)

1) Singers interested in learning songs in Gaelic can come to Satharn na nGael (Irish Day) at the Irish Center on June 12.  Terry will be teaching song workshops and you can take classes at whatever level you would like, beginner to advanced, in Irish Language.  To register www.daltai.com/events/sat10.htm    Email Terry Kane at tkane@netcarrier.com if you want more details.  This event is a favorite every year!
 
2)  There will be a singing competition at the Celtic Classic in Bethlehem again this year Saturday, September 25, 8 - 11 PM.  I'm organizing it for them so if you have any suggestions this is the time to contact Terry.  The plans will be finished shortly and then all the info and registration documents will be on their website www.celticfest.org
