The Fourth Friday Ceili Dance scheduled for Friday, March 26th has been cancelled.

We look forward to seeing you at the April Ceili on Friday, April 23rd.

And don't forget our monthly slow and regular session on Friday, April 2 at 8:00pm, Singer's Session on Wed., April 7th at 7:30 pm, and the April 23rd Fourth Friday Ceili Dance with live music starting at 8:00pm.

Sunday, April 4th, 7:00 pm. End your Easter celebration right with family and friends at a very special house concert in Chestnut Hill. The Philadelphia Ceili Group is very pleased to bring to you Chulrua. Consisting of Paddy O'Brien, Pat Egan, and Dale Russ, Chulrua's music is in keeping with the old tradition—Come and hear Irish traditional music in a relaxed, intimate atmosphere, and tunes offered as they were handed down from generation to generation in Ireland.

Workshop space is still available for some of the workshops. You can still sign up for the workshops by coming to Irish Center 1/2 hour before the workshop you are interested in. Workshops will be filled on a first come first served basis.

A quintet comprised of some of America’s most talented, young musicians, BUA have been described by Irish Music Magazine as “the essence of a superb band,” their sound “a throwback to the playing of the 1960s and 1970s, keeping the music down the path of tradition” and their exciting CD release, Live at Martyrs’, “a work without gimmicks, where the musicianship is of the highest quality.”  It is no surprise then that BUA, lending to its Irish Gaelic meaning of ‘victory,’ have quickly risen to the status of America’s premier traditional Irish ensemble.

As a band, BUA have performed at numerous festivals including Boston’s prestigious Irish Connections Festival, the Milwaukee Irish Festival, Cleveland’s Irish Cultural Festival, Celtic Fest Chicago and more. As individuals they’ve shared the stage with a host of top Irish musicians including Martin Hayes, David Munnelly, Liz Carroll, Larry Nugent, Paddy Keenan, and Aoife Clancy.

Bill Margeson, of the Irish American News, captures their essence concisely: “Clearly, this group is no locally-based collection of musicians trying to break out of Chicago. This is a group that has established itself [both] individually and as a group in the eyes and ears of the traditional community…As other bands change, disband or simply fade away, the tradition is blessed by what seems to be an inexhaustible pool of talent that comes to the front of the stage.  It is BUA’s time. Here they come.”
