 Angelina Carberry was born in Manchester in the late 70’s into an Irish (County. Longford) family steeped in traditional music, It wasn’t long before her interest and keen ear for the tunes began to develop. Starting on the tin whistle she soon moved to the banjo, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. She has since developed a highly personal style with an exciting rhythm that captivates anyone lucky enough to hear it. In 1998 Angelina moved to and established herself on the local music scene. She attracted notice with a CD entitled "Memories of the Holla" which she made with her father, accordion player Peter Carberry, and the great John Blake on guitar. Her second album, a duet with Martin Quinn, confirmed her tremendous talents as a player and her wonderful tastes for lesser known tunes. Her most recent CD, “An Traidisiun Beo”,is a solo, which means that although Martin Quinn and John Blake show up on some tunes, the banjo is the featured instrument and appears solo on a majority of the tracks. In addition to her duet work with Martin, Angelina has toured Europe with the traditional Irish band The Bumblebees.

Martin Quinn comes from a family of musicians and tellers of traditional stories with roots in County Armagh. At an early age he developed an interest in traditional music and especially that of the button accordion. He first took up that instrument in 1981 and now possesses a highly refined style, being regarded as one of Ireland's finest exponent's of the button-box. In 1996 Martin received his diploma from the Irish Department of Education for teaching the button accordion. He began his professional career as a musician in 1994 and has toured Europe and the with the bands Dorsa and Lá Lugh, appearing at festivals in France, Finland,Britain, Germany.

Paired together (Angelina and Martin are married) these two young musicians have a deep understanding of traditional music and a love and respect for it that shines through in every note they play. Their unmistakable sound is at times dark and earthy, with a deeply grounded rhythm - All the while swinging with abandon! The momentum is measured and unstoppable, with the banjo's regular throb complementing the box's open tones.
