These workshops will take place on Saturday, May 16 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The cost for a workshop is $30.00. We are offering a special Concert/Workshop combo ticket for $45.00. Oisin Mac Diarmada (fiddle)
A graduate in Music Education from Trinity College Dublin/RIAM, Oisín Mac Diarmada began playing fiddle at a young age in Co. Clare, subsequently moving to Co. Sligo and developing a deep interest in the playing style of the North Connacht region. Following the release of acclaimed solo album, "Ar an bhFidil" (Green Linnet) in 2003, Oisín was subsequently featured in renowned US magazine “Strings” and described by The Irish Echo's Earle Hitchner as "one of the most gifted and creative traditional fiddlers playing today." Founder of noted group Téada, Oisín is also a regular solo performer, appearing
recently as guest soloist with the Southern Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Awarded a Research  Studentship by Dundalk Institute of Technology, Oisín is currently pursuing postgraduate studies under the direction of Dr. Fintan Vallely in the area of “Political Identity & Movement to Music”.

Damien Connelly (button accordion) Damien began learning the accordion when he was 11 years old, taught of course by his father Martin, and was coached here and there by his elder brother Karl, who had begun before him. At age 13 his family moved to the town of Ennis, Co. Clare where he came in touch with many people his own age who played music. He competed in the Fleadhanna with his friends in the groupai cheol and ceili band competitions, with a group under the direction of the Deirdre O' Brien Vaughan. At age 16, he took up the fiddle, under the tutelage of his step-mother Maureen Glynn. In 1997, Damien took first place in both the Under-18 All Ireland accordion and melodeon competition held in Ballina, Co. Mayo. The following year, Damien recorded three melodeon tracks on his father's CD entitled Back to Brooklyn. In 2000, he recorded his first accordion and melodeon CD, Tippin Away, accompanied by guitarist Pete Mancuso of NY. This CD was generously praised by Joe Burke, Joe Derrane and Bobby Gardiner.n 2005 Damien was asked to teach at the Catskills Irish Arts Week in East Durham and has been teaching there every year since. He also wrote the Irish Accordion Tutor which is unlike any other.

Damien Stenson (flute)
Hailing from the rich musical environment of Co. Sligo, 29-year-old Damien Stenson is noted for his extensive repertoire and flowing style of playing, honed by many years of extensive musical activity. He is featured on a number of albums including the compilation "Wooden Flute Obsession Vol. 2", Oisín Mac Diarmada's solo album "Ar an bhFidil”, along with a recent bodhrán album by Junior Davey.

Patsy O'Brien (guitar/bouzouki))

Patsy O’Brien, guitarist and award winning singer/songwriter. Irish music critic Paul Dromey has called O’Brien “ Ireland ’s best-kept musical secret.” 

Tristan Rosenstock (bodhrán)
From Glenageary in Co Dublin, Tristan's bodhrán playing encompasses a distinctive musical sensitivity, evident on a number of recordings and tours with which he has had involvement in recent years. Prominent in Dublin musical circles, Tristan recently completed a Masters in Film & Television Studies from Dublin City University. He presently combines freelance media work alongside performing with Téada.

 Téada (pronounced "tay-da," meaning "strings" in Irish) are one of Irish music's hottest young talents, preserving the timeless energy and expressive force of traditional jigs, reels and hornpipes. Sponsored by the Philadelphia Ceili Group, the monthly singers session will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 7:30 PM Bring a song to share, Singers at all levels welcome. Session is lead by Terry Kane. If you are really motivated bring a snack too!

Friday May 15 - Irish Traditional Music Sessions. From 8:00 -9:00 there is a slow session. This is a traditional Irish session in all ways except one: the tempo. We will play common session tunes at a slower than normal pace, so that beginning and intermediate players can more easily learn the tunes and join in the session. Also great for experienced players who are picking up another instrument!

A regular session sponsored by the Irish Center will run after that from 9:00 - On.

Friday May 22 Learning Circle - An open Learning Circle (or learning session) is held at the Irish Center on the 4th Friday of the month. You get a chance to play along with the tunes at a slower tempo in a very relaxed atmosphere.

The room will be open about 7:00 pm and the session will start at 7:30 pm and end at 9:00 pm. Please have your instrument in-tune and ready to play at 7:30.

Requested donation $3.00, Philadelphia Ceili Group Members - Free
